Tuesday Evening: Concerts On The Town Green
The Town Green Gazebo runs a summer concert cadence that most out-of-towners never see because it is not on Route 44. On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Nightshift debuts at the Avon Town Green Gazebo from 6:00 PM. Bring the folding chairs you keep in the trunk from spring soccer.
If you want a slightly later Friday, the Cigar and Cocktail Patio Party is happening on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 7:00 PM at the Avon Old Farms Hotel. It is one of the few reliably adult-only evenings in town, and it sits five minutes from most West Avon Road driveways.
Wednesday, Early: Fisher Meadows Before The Fields Fill
Fisher Meadows Recreation Area sits at 800 Old Farms Road, adjacent to the Farmington River, partially developed with the remaining meadows, wooded areas, and lake in a natural state. Most residents know the sports complex side. The half worth walking is the other side.

One dated note for early August: the Conquering Challenges 5K is set for Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 8:30 A.M. at the Fisher Meadows Trail Head, a 5k for all ages on a dirt path around the lake, with 25% of each registration fee donated to the Gaylord Sports Association. The Greenway, End To End
Avon's segment of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail is the piece of infrastructure that most residents underuse. It runs on the abandoned Boston and Maine rail line, from the Simsbury Town Line at the north end to the Farmington Town Line at the south, open dawn to dusk year round for walking, jogging, roller blading, bicycling, and cross country skiing, with no motorized vehicles allowed and no winter snow plowing.

What Is Actually New On Main
Two pieces of restaurant news matter for late-summer dinners.
Chan Bakeshop is coming to 304 West Main Street. According to Patch's Avon coverage, a Cromwell-based bakery and eatery is expanding and is expected to soon open a new location in Avon, with Chan Bakeshop, located at 50 Berlin Road in Cromwell, opening a second site at 304 West Main Street. The location formerly housed an Edible Arrangements franchise. The bakery is owned by pastry chef and local culinary entrepreneur Chan Vorasane-Graham, who, hailing from Laos, said her bakery specializes in handcrafted, high-quality baked goods inspired by timeless flavors. Max A Mia has moved. After 34 years at 70 East Main, Max A Mia relocated to 380 W. Main St. in Avon in the former home of Bertucci's, which closed in 2022, with the new site in the Avon Marketplace, just two miles west of the original location. The kitchen is now run by Executive Chef Bob Peterson, who joined Max Hospitality as a sous chef at Max Fish in 2011, moved to Max's Oyster Bar as Executive Chef in 2018, and now brings his passion for Italian food to Max A Mia with new dishes on the menu. Same brand, different room, different menu energy.
For the quieter Italian standby, DaCapo of Avon offers classical Italian dishes, brick oven pizza, an outdoor patio, and ample bar seating at 5 East Main Street. It is where residents send visiting parents when they do not want to explain a wait list.
